Lottery Larry tokens: what they buy and where they come from

Patch 2.0.1

Checked against the 1.0 patch notes (20 Oct 2026), the 1.0.3 skin changes and the achievement list.

Lottery Larry's tokens are the cosmetic currency: they feed the skin wheel in the HUB and nothing in your build depends on them. Here is what the patch notes establish, how skins and oysters actually drop, and how to check the wheel yourself in a couple of minutes.

What a token is

A cosmetic currency. Lottery Larry's tokens feed the skin lottery — the layer of the game that changes how your robot looks, not what it can do.

That distinction matters more than it sounds. Mycopunk's progression runs through the upgrade grid, and tokens never touch it. Nothing in your build is gated behind a skin roll, which means this is the one system in the game you can safely ignore while you are still learning.

Quick facts
  • Type — Cosmetic currency
  • Spent at — Lottery Larry's wheel (HUB)
  • Affects power — No
  • Linked to — Golden Bruce
  • Skin drops — share the roll with upgrades (1.0.3)

What the patch notes establish

  • Tokens are the skin lottery's currency. The wheel is the sink; there is no upgrade path attached to them.
  • Lottery Larry and the wheel are HUB features. They sit in the social hub rather than behind a mission.
  • Golden Bruce is named as the token source. A patch-note line describes taking tokens from it.
  • 1.0 added hats. The launch press release lists new cosmetics alongside the new guns, grenades and maps.
  • The Codex indexes the whole cosmetic set. It is a tab that lists every weapon, upgrade and skin in the game, and selecting one tells you how it is acquired — unless it's really secret.

How a skin actually drops

Skins are not a separate loot table. The 1.0.3 notes state that skins keep the same chance of dropping alongside any upgrade drop — so the roll you take after a mission or a kill can resolve as an upgrade or as a cosmetic. That single line explains most of the "where are my skins" complaints in the first week.

The same patch adjusted the cosmetic side in four ways:

1.0.3 changeWhat it means in play
Skins made a little more commonOverall cosmetic frequency went up in the same patch
Factory skin stat curves retunedFactory skins are much less likely to drop with little or no hue shifting — and the change is retroactive, so skins you already own are affected
Glider's skins now affect her wingsuit and rocket salvo in first personThe cosmetic shows on the ability, not only on the body
Oyster chances raised (below)Scrapping and missions both feed the cosmetic side faster

Oysters: the other cosmetic drop

Two lines in the same note set cover oysters, and both point the same way:

  • Scrapping a skin has a slightly higher chance of producing an oyster.
  • Oysters spawning in a mission had their chance doubled.

Read together, that is the patch telling you where the cosmetic loop lives: you get skins from the same roll as upgrades, and you get oysters from the skins you do not want plus the ones that spawn while you play. If you are chasing a specific look, scrapping duplicates is the lever the notes point at.

How to check it yourself in two minutes

  1. Open the Codex. It lists every skin and tells you how each is acquired, unless it's really secret — the one place the game admits to hiding something.
  2. Walk the HUB. The wheel is a physical object, not a menu. Look rather than trusting a video from March.
  3. Check the Golden Bruce's spawn behaviour on your next few missions. If the token drop is tied to it, that is where the count will move.

Is it worth farming?

Probably not. Cosmetics do not change a mission, and the two things that do — grid space and weapon upgrades — have well-documented routes. If you are choosing how to spend an evening, the hidden weapons chains return something that shoots.

Frequently asked

What are Lottery Larry tokens used for in Mycopunk?
They are the currency for the cosmetic lottery — the skin side of the game, not the upgrade side. Tokens do not buy upgrades, grid space or weapons, so nothing in your build depends on them.
Where is the Lottery Larry wheel?
In the HUB. The HUB was reworked in 1.0, so navigate by the in-game markers rather than a pre-October screenshot.
Do skins affect gameplay?
No. Skins and hats are cosmetic. The Codex lists every weapon, upgrade and skin, so it is also the fastest way to confirm what you have actually unlocked.
Do skins drop instead of upgrades?
The 1.0.3 notes say skins keep the same chance of dropping alongside any upgrade drop, so a drop roll can produce either. That patch also raised how often skins appear.
